In an effort to develop valve seats that would meet our exacting standards, KPMI® tested and chemically separated several iron based valve seats. Eventually we specified a combination of materials that gave us a seat with good uniform hardness and resistance to microwelding, wear, and recession. Casting a seat with this combination of alloys is not possible. Only with the latest in Powdered Metal Technology were we able to blend these alloys, creating a high density seat with exceptional wear resistance, machinability, and thermal qualities. This material is compatible with all types of fuel blends, resists corrosion and burning, and is machinable with standard tooling. These seats have been thoroughly tested on the track and street, in high RPM multi-valve applications, high spring load V-twin applications, with leaded and unleaded gasoline, ethanol, methanol, and in naturally aspirated and forced induction applications. In each case they have performed flawlessly, making these the seats of choice for cylinder head builders everywhere.
