Keanu Reeves Talks about his Favorite Motorcycles & tells us about his new Company Arch Motorcycle
While doing a film in Munich in the early '80's, Keanu Reeves first learned to ride a motorcycle. However, his love for motorcycles heralds back to when he was just a boy at the tender age of 10. Having grown up in Yorkville near Toronto, Keanu Reeves would see various motorcycle gangs that would ride through the area. This experience ignited his spirit for riding and never left him until the day he learned to ride and went and purchased his first bike, in 1986. In 1987, he bought a second bike which he holds dear to his heart, a 1973 850 MK2A Norton Commando. The Commando was best known for its innovative feather-bed frame which featured a rubber mounted engine designed that way to reduce the vibration the engine creates when it is running, making for a much smoother ride.
In films, Keanu has ridden on various bikes which include Norton and Ducati. In the "Matrix", Keanu rode on a 2004 998 Ducati.
Later on his life, he owned a Harley Davidson Dyna Wide Glide which was the inspiration for starting up his own motorcycle brand known as Arch Motorcycle. Looking to personalize his Harley, Keanu teamed up with Gard Hollinger, who was the owner of a custom building motorcycle company. They ended up building a custom bike around Keanu's Harley which later became the prototype for the Arch Motorcycle brand.
Arch motorcycles are made with all billet aluminum parts and include parts from various companies such as S&S, as well as an Italian and South African company which provide mirrors, foot controls, and turn signals. Each motorcycle seat is also custom fitted for each owner.
Arch motorcycles are a combination of performance, cruiser sport bikes. Currently Arch offers the ARCH KRGT-1, Arch 1S, and the Arch Method 143 concept bike.
