Meet MotoBot: the world's first artificial intelligence motorcycle rider
It seems Mercedes Benz isn’t the only company working on automatically piloted vehicles. Meet Yamaha’s MotoBot, a new self-driving motorcycle rider concept that could easily resemble something out of a si-fi flic. The seemingly autonomous robot has been designed to address issues of safety for professional motorcycle riders, but the resulting prototype is making bigger waves due to its AI functionality. While Yamaha has been quite hush on the motorcycle’s specifics so far, a new video shows the robotics system reaching speeds of 93 mph, operating on a racetrack entirely by itself, and it even revs the throttle to get going.
At CES 2016 Yamaha has finally given some more information about the MotoBot and said that it would be hitting the racetrack in 2017. Developed to eventually be capable of lapping a racetrack faster than world champion Valentino Rossi, we cannot wait to see it in action.
